Heart Flashcards
Name all the chambers in the heart?
Right atrium, left atrium
Right ventricle, left ventricle (at the bottom)
Name all the connecting arteries and veins to the heart from left to right?
Vena cava, pulmonary artery, aorta, pulmonary vein
What does the right ventricle do?
Pumps deoxygenated blood to the lungs to take in oxygen, the blood then returns to the heart
What does the left ventricle do?
Pumps oxygenated blood around the body
Where does the blood enter the atria from?
Vena cava and pulmonary vein
Why do the atria contract?
To push the blood into the ventricle
Why do the ventricles contract?
To push the blood into the pulmonary artery and the aorta out of the heart
Where does the blood from the aorta go?
Rest of the body
Where does the blood from the pulmonary artery go?
To the lungs
Where did the blood from the vena cava come from?
The rest of the body
Where did the blood from the pulmonary vein come from?
The lungs
Difference between a single and double circulatory system?
Single is once circle while a double is two circuits joined together
