Microphone
A
Picks up acoustic energy and changes it to electrical energy. Can have omni or directional mic.

Directional microphone
A
When you can set the direction of pickup for the HA.

Amplifier
A
Takes electrical signal from mic and boosts it up to give it more amplitude.

Receiver
A
Takes the boosted electrical signal and switches it back to amplified acoustic energy which is then delivered to the persons ear canal.

Acoustic feedback
A
high pitched squealing sound emitted from aid.

- Poorly fitting ear mold
- Crack in tubing
- Volume set too high
- Excessive wax in EAC
