Fee of service
Health care providers are paid for each service they perform, such as an office visit or test.
Preventative care
Medical care provided to prevent diseases or conditions from occurring or worsening.
Ex: Vaccinations, and health screenings
PCP
Primary care physician, the first point of contact for patients in the healthcare system.
Pharmaceutical
Medication or drug used to treat diseases or manage health conditions. medicine.
Surgery
Medical procedure involving the incision or manipulation of a patient’s body to treat or diagnose a condition.
Health insurance
Contract between an individual and an insurance provider to cover the cost of medical expenses either partially or fully.
Healthcare
the organized provision of medical care to individuals or a community. This includes prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and management of health conditions.
Patient
A person receiving medical treatment or care from a healthcare provider.
Clinic
A healthcare setting, where patients receive medical treatment, consultation, and diagnostic services.
Hospital
Healthcare facility that provides inpatient and outpatient services. This includes emergency care, surgery, and specialized treatment.
Medicare
A federal health insurance program for people aged 65 or older. And for certain young people with disabilities.
Medicaid
A joint federal and state program that provides health coverage to low-income individuals and families.
Emergency Room (ER)
A part of a hospital that provides immediate treatment for patients with urgent or life-threatening conditions.
Rehabilitation
Treatment or therapy aimed at helping individuals recover from an illness, injury, or surgery, to regain function and independence.
Specialist
Healthcare provider who focuses on a particular area of medicine, such as cardiology, orthopedics, or dermatology.
