Corporate responsibilities:
Line management structure, staff training, company policies & procedures, clear accountability, insurance, adequate resources. Investigate incidents.
Personal responsibilities:
Responsible for own H&S and anyone under your care. Duty to comply with company policies &b procedures. Report breaches in good time, personal risk assessment, wear PPE, do staff training.

Defined as having sufficient knowledge, experience and ability to carry out duties and tasks. Recognise own limitations. Take action to prevent harm to those carrying out tasks or who may be affected.

Hazard: something with the potential to cause harm
Risk: likelihood of harm being realised
What is a risk assessment? How would you carry out a risk assessment? (RICS Surveying Safely)
What: carefully examining what in your work could cause harm to people.
How: Surveying Safely provides an audit template to give a risk score (0 to 5).
- Identify HAZARDS
- Who will be harmed/affected
- Evaluate RISK and decide precautions. Create a METHOD STATEMENT.

- Advise those affected

Personal Protective Equipment. Should be used when all other risk management measures found ineffective. Helmets, steel capped boots, ear defenders, face masks, overalls, torches, safety harnesses, hi visibility clothing. Protects from risk of injury to skin, lungs, eyes, body.
Corporate responsibility: Should be maintained in good condition by EMPLOYER and provided FREE OF CHARGE.
Personal responsibility: to wear PPE
