Q

London Inspection example:

You mentioned that during this inspection, Covid-19 protocols were in place.
How has Covid-19 changed health and safety practices in your profession?

A

Whilst social distancing rules and wearing a mask are no longer required for property inspections, Covid-19 has changed health and safety practices in the industry, such as a greater emphasis on hygienic safety measures e.g., hand sanitisers in the workplace. Remote working has also increased, which creates H&S challenges for occupiers in terms of display screen equipment training, mental wellbeing and burnout.

20
Q

Tree Monitoring example:

How are you qualified to advise on matters pertaining to agriculture?

A

I worked in the capacity as a property manager, and by speaking with the building managers, I identified and recorded trees above 1.5m in height. Recognising that I am not an agricultural expert, to ensure the safety of the site, I advised my client that they instruct their gardeners / tree surgeons to inspect and monitor the trees so a risk assessment can be updated regularly.

21
Q

Explain your understanding of the term HSE?

A

Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is the UK National Authority for managing work related health, safety, and illness issues.

They act in the public interest to reduce work related injuries and incidents.

Their aim is to protect people’s health and safety by ensuring that risks are properly managed.

Also support businesses to change and adapt to remain compliant with occupational health and safety legislation.

22
Q

What should you do first if you find an injured person on site?

A
  • Assess the situation first without putting yourself in immediate danger.
  • Call the emergency services if serious.
  • Raise the alarm and call for help.
