what is done in a process evaluation
evaluating how well the interventions achieved the aims, what parts of the plan were responsible for success and failures. based largely on participants opinions - observations and interviews
what is done in an impact evaluation
evaluating the impact of the intervention on the participants - did it change their behaviour or improve knowledge, surveys and questionnaires used immediately after intervention
what is done in an outcome evaluation
evaluating the impact of the intervention but after a time period - assesses if it really resulted in a change of behaviour. very costly so cant always be done
what are the 3 components to the childsmile programme
core - every child under age of 5 provided with toothbrush and toothpaste
nurseries and schools - 20% deprived nurseries and schools up to p4 get fluoride varnish twice yearly by dental nurse
primary care - dentist provides children with fluoride varnish twice a year, toothbrushing techniques, diet advice
