Physical health and well being:
1) body’s organs and systems are working well
2) you’re not suffering from illnesses
3) strong & fit enough to do excercises
exercise improves components of fitness such as
1) aerobic exercises improves your CVD fitness, also your BP decreases
2) excercise can benefit your musculo-skeletal system- muscles, bones get stronger + joints become more flexible
3) improves body composition- attaining a healthy weight reduces strain on body
positive effects of exercise reduce the risk of
- obesity and other long-term health problems
- stronger muscles & more flexible joints can make injury less likely
physical activity makes you
stronger and easier so everyday tasks are easier.
*regular aerobic exercise helps prevent
1) high blood pressure by keeping your heart strong and arteries elastic.
2) this means blood can flow easily round the body, reduces the risk of coronary heart disease, strokes etc.
Weight bearing exercises can help
1) prevent osteoporosis.
2) also helps to strengthen the bones
Regular exercise helps prevent
obesity
energy is not stored as a fat
regular exercise helps to prevent diabetes in
two ways…
1)
helps to maintain a healthy weight. makes you less likely to get diabetes
2)
helps to improve how sensitive to insulin your cells are. You are less likely to become insulin-resistant.
emotional health and well-being is when
4 factors
1) you feel content and confident in yourself
2) able to manage your emotions and cope with challenges
3) don’t have too much stress or anxiety
4) not suffering from any mental illnesses
emotional
physical activity can increase
1) self esteem and confidence
2) competing against others can improve your ability to deal with pressure or manage emotions
3) helps relieve stress and tension by taking your mind off, prevents stress-related illnesses
4) endorphins in your brain increase - help you feel good
- also increases serotonin- reduces depression
social health is when:
1) you have friends.
2) you believe you have some worth in society.
3) you have food, clothing and shelter.
physical activity can help you
- make friends
- earn skills like teamwork and cooperation
- learn life skills which could be applied at work or anywhere else
