- Stop smoking and avoid 2nd hand smoking
- Exercise regularly
- Get annual check ups
- Maintain a healthybdiet
- Stay up to date with vaccinations
- Avoid air pollution
- Improve indoor air quality
- Practice deep breathings
- Maintain good hygiene
- Get checked for lung cancer

Difference between asphyxia and choking
Choking : a type of asphyxia where an object blocks the airway which prevents breathing and can lead to death
Asphyxia : when thr body is deprived of oxygen. Can be caused by suffocation, strangulation, etc
Nasal cavity
Acts as the respiratory systems first line of defense. Filters and humidifies the incoming air
Pharynx
The passageway for air and food
Larynx
The voice box. A pivotal structure housing thr voice chords
Trachea
Carries air from the upper respiratory tract to the lower respiratory tract (bronci and lungs)
Bronchial tree
Ensurescthe even distribution of air throughout the lung tissues
Alveoli
Vital processes of gas exchange occurs
Lungs
Facilitates the expansion and contraction necessary for respiration
What is asthma
A condition where your airways narrow and swell and may produce extra mucus.
Symptoms :
1. Shortness of breath
2. Wheezing when exhaling
3. Chest tightness or pain
Salbutamol
A medication that ekaxes the alveoli. Commonly used to relieve asthma. It opens up thr airways i the lungs
