Health, Diseases Flashcards
or infectious disease, any illness that can be passed/transmitted from one person to another
Communicable Disease
refers to the ‘carriers’ that bring CD’s
vectors
refers to the rapid spread of infectious diseases to many people
Epidemic/Pandemic
infection in the upper/lower respiratory tract, prevents normal breathing
Acute Respiratory Infections
Infectious agents of ARI
Adenovirus, Rhinovirus, Pnuemococcus
infectious agent of COVID 19
Sars-cov2
infection of the lungs where the air sac/alveoli are filled with pus and fluid, limits oxygen intake
Pnuemonia
Agents of Pnuemonia
Bacteria, Viruses, Fungi
inflammation of the bronchial tubes, air passages between the nose and lungs
Bronchitis
Infectious agent of Bronchitis
Viruses, Bacteria, irritant particles
highly contagious viral infection affecting the respiratory system
Influenza
Infectious agent of INfluenza
Flu Virus (A, B, C)
infectious bacterial disease that commonly affects the lungs
Tuberculosis
mosquito borne disease mostly occurring in tropical and subtropical areas
Dengue
4 Ways of Transmission of a CD
Direct Transmission, Indirect Transmission, Airborne Transmission, Vector Borne Transmission
done thru direct person to person contact
Direct Transmission
occurs when the pathogen is transferred from one person to another indirectly, ex. touching objects
Indirect Transmission
occurs when pathogens are transferred thru small respiratory droplets/dust
Airborne Transmission
occurs when the pathogens is being transferred thru vectors
Vector borne transmission
WASH
