PAD - Peripheral artery disease
caused by atherosclerosis, narrows arteries, restricts blood flow. Shares risk factors with heart disease including smoking, diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure
Claudication
Leg or arm pain caused by peripheral artery disease, where the arteries supplying blood to the legs are narrowed due to fatty deposits on the artery walls
dysphasia
difficulty in speaking or understanding language due to brain injury or neurological conditions.
doesnt directly relate to wound care, but it can have an impact on the way that the patient can communicate their pain, discomfort or the staus of the wound. unable to get the adequate nutrition and hydration; increased risk of complications like pressure ulcers.
ankle brachial pressure index (abpi)
a calculation of the ratio of the patients systolic blood pressue in their ankles to the systolic pressure in their arm
Hemiplegia
Causing paralysis of lower face, arm, and leg muscles, affecting sensation, memory, and cognition, primarily caused by stroke
