Funding through Australia’s government
Federal - medical services, pharmaceuticals, residential aged care
State/Territory - most acute and psychiatric hospital services, community and public health services
Local Councils - clean water, garbage control, immunisation programs
Medicare
free or low cost to allied health services
free admission to public hospitals and aftercare is free
subsidised visits to GP and specialists
Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme
provides subsidy for agreed prescribed medications

Problems within our health care system
bed shortages, hospitals need to be upgraded, staff shortage, increasing technology and cost, lack of funding, lack of rural services, reduced bulk-billing
