Define wellness
A continuum ranging from death to optimal health.
What does each letter stand for in the GREAT decision model?
G- give thought to the problem R- review your choices E-evaluate the consequences of each choice A- assess and choose the best choice T- think it over afterwards
What are the 2 types of goals?
Long term and short term.
What are the suggestions fro goal setting?
Safe, satisfying, sensible, similar, specific, and support.
What is the difference between controllable and uncontrollable risk factors? Provide an example.
Control - you can control some risk factors by making choices about you behavior. (Wearing a helmet)
Uncontrol - risk factors you cannot control (age)
What are the six classes of nutrients?
Carbohydrates, fats, protein, vitamins, minerals, and water.
What is the difference between hunger and appetite?
Hunger - the body’s physical response to the need for food.
Appetite - the desire rather than the need for food.
What are 3 serious health risks of being overweight?
Type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, sleeping problems.
What are the 5 components of health related fitness?
Muscular strength, muscular endurance, cardiovascular endurance, flexibility, body composition.
