Definition of positive, negative and holistic health
P - The achievement & maintenance of physical fitness and mental stability
N- The absence of physical illness, disease and mental distress.
H - A state of complete physical, mental and social well being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity
What does the social services and wellbeing act 2014 do?
places legal duties on local authorities, health boards and Welsh ministers to work with organisations to promote the wellbeing of those who need it.

What is the WHO’s definition of health?
The WHO defines health as a state of complete, physical, mental and social well being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity
How is wellbeing measured?
By looking at the national wellbeing outcomes and identifying areas to improvement and development.
Biomedical Model
model that assumes the existence of illness / disease causes poor health.
It focus’ on diagnosis and medical intervention to treat disease or symptoms.
Social Model
suggests that individuals are affected by barriers in society (not by their health or impairment)
Social determinants are barriers faced by people due to their personal characteristics & circumstances.
Biopsychosocial Model
identifies the relationship between biological, psychological and social factors to understand why an individual might suffer from poor health and wellbeing. It is a holistic approach
