When to call the pediatrician
Fever and….
- Unusually ill, fussy or drowsy
- Overheated environment
- Symptoms of meningitis
- Existing immune system problems
- Has had a seizure
- Less than 12 weeks with a fever
- 104f at any age
- Isnt improving
- Fever for more than 48 hours under 2
- Fever for 72 hours over 2
What is considered a fever?
100.4 F (38 C)
104 is very concerning
How to treat an infant seizure
reduce temperature
dont restrain
keep them safe/protect from injury
when its over, lay them on their side and tilt the head slightly back
When should hands be washed?
- Before or after touching the face
- before and after using the restroom
- After blowing nose/wiping face
- after touching food
- after handling garbage or anything contaminated
- When youre with sick people
- Before and after taking meds
- After ocming into contact with bodily fluids
- Before and after first aid
- Before and after handling animals and pet foods
How to wash the hands
- Remove jewellery
- wet hands thoroughly
- 1-3 ml of soap lathered well
- Wash for 20-30 seconds
- do both sides of hands, fingers, nails, forearms etc
- Rinse
7 Dry with a clean towel or something disposable - turn off anything youve touched with something disposable
When can hand sanitisers be used?
When soap/water is not present
Where other germs need killing (i.e. hospital)
Must be at least 60% alcohol
Hand washing concerns
Cuts and bandages
Nails, nail polish
Dry/flaky skin
Sun Safety for 6 Months and Under
Keep out of direct sunlight Move into the shade Cover totally with light cotton clothing Use a brimmed hat Use sunscreen (min 15 spf) Cover with cold compresses if burns occur

What does sunburn look like?1
red, warm, painful skin
Severe: blistering, fever, chills, headache, vomiting etc.
What is Paraphimosis?
Foreskin being caught in position and not being ablt to return to its original position. Causes pain, swelling and complications
How to care for a retracted foreskin
Gently pull it back
Clean beneath with mild soap and water
Rinse thoroughly
Pull the foreskin back over the penis
