Mercury precautions
- Wear full PPE
- Ensure no rips or cracks in floor
- Keel surgery well ventilated
- Store mercury in a cool or dry place in sealed container
- Store waste amalgam in labelled plastic screw top container under water
- Remove all traces of amalgam prior to sterilisation

Similar to manual cleaning, you would use the ultra sonic bath instead of manual cleaning

Remove debris from items by vibrating at ultrasonic frequency
What is a washer disinfector?
This is used instead of an autoclave, this is the preferred way to decontaminate
How many stages are there in washer disinfector and what are they?
Five stages and flush, wash ,rinse ,disinfection and drying
What is an N type autoclave?
Downward displacement autoclave
Cycle lasts 15-20 mins
Prints out data logged after each cycle
What is a B type autoclave?
Cycle lasts up to 45 mins
Can vacuum instruments if required
