What is a sedentary lifestyle?
A sedentary lifestyle is when you are not active and do not exercise on a regular basis.
how can environment depend on your fitness
Those living a sedentary lifestyle have a lower fitness demand than those living a highly active lifestyle
what can fitness be broken down into
Health-related components: such as flexibility, cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength, muscular endurance
Skills-related components: such as agility, speed, coordination, power, balance, reaction time
Describe the relationship between health, fitness, exercise and performance
Healthy active lifestyle -> Increased levels of exercise -> Increased fitness levels -> Improved performance
Sedentry lifestyle -> Decreased levels of exercise -> Decreased fitness levels -> Improved performance

-Can control emotions
-Feel good about yourself/ self esteem
Effect of physical activity-
-Release of endorphins - natural painkillers and improve sleep
-Release feel good hormones - serotonin - and improve sleep
-Aerobic exercise improves cognitive function and helps improve perceived image and fitness
how can decreased fitness occur
- can occur because of ill health
-Poor health can result in an inability to train
-This results in lower fitness levels
-It is also worth noting that overtraining can result in decreased fitness as the body is more prone to illness
What are hypokinetic diseases?
A hypokinetic disease is caused by having a sedentary lifestyle and a lack of physical activity. An example of a type of hypokinetic disease is a heart attack.
