Head and Face Shapes Flashcards
Round face
Avoid styles that add width and height
Styles that finish below the chin or come on to the face are more suitable
Oblong face
Encourage width - avoid height, as this will accentuate the length of the face
A soft style and fringe will compliment the face shape
Square fave
Bringing hair on to or around the jaw line, so bringing hair on to or around the jaw can soften this.
Texturising the perimeter of the cut also adds tone
Heart face
Avoid adding any extra width at the temple area
To balance the style out you can add width at the narrowest point, the chin
Avoid styles that finish at jaw level, as they will accentuate the shape
Flat occipital bone
Add width with graduation in this area
Avoid straight, flat styles as they will accentuate the lack of definition at the back of the head
