HE 22 Preview Flashcards
1
Q
Three Layers of Blood Vessel and significance
A
Tunica Intima
Tunica Media
Tunica Adventitia (externa)
presence, thickness and composition of these three layers define blood vessels
2
Q
Tunica Intima
A
- endothelium
- simple squamous lining lumen
- connecte dby jxnl complexes
- BL - subendothelial CT layer
- loose CT
- scattered SM and Macrophages
- separated from TM by IEL (internal elastic lamina)
quite compressed, hard to see, identifiable by IEL (orcein)
3
Q
Tunica Media
A
SMC!!!
- communicate via GJ
- seme are contractile: corkscrew nuclei
- some are secretory: synthesize elastic lamina
- before TA have EEL (external elastic lamina), hard to see, small layer less visible folds
4
Q
Tunica Adventitia
A
- Fibrolelastic CT
- VASO VASORUM: lumen only supplies TI and 1/2 TM with nutrieunts, the rest is supplied by VV
- ANS post ganglionic nerves release NT’s which diffuse to SMC for excitation spread via GJ’s
