HDS Complex Flashcards
1
Q
What does HDS stand for?
A
Hydrodesulfurization
2
Q
What does the HDS do?
A
It removes Sulfur and nitrogen from hydrocarbons to produce kerosene, low-sulfur and ultra low-sulfur diesel, hydrotreated Fluid Catalytic cracking Unit feed (gas oil), and compresses Low line and Gathering Line gases into fuel gas. Additionally, Lighter hydrocarbon fractions that are not suitable for the gasoline blending process are removed and contaminants (nitrogen, sulfur, and silica) are removed from the feed. This process produces steam and hydrogen that are utilized elsewhere in the refinery.
