HCI101 Flashcards
Exam
a multidisciplinary field of
study focusing on the design of computer technology and, in particular, the interaction between
humans (the users) and computers.
Human Computer Interaction
The system must support the user’s task. If the user is forced to adopt an undesirable
design, then it is not usable.
Usability
It defines an area of expertise and knowledge in some real-world
activity.
Domain
It is an operation to manipulate concepts in a domain
Task
It is a desired output from a performed task
Goal
It is a specific action required to meet the goal
Intention
It is the study of the problem space
Task analysis
It is traditionally the study of the physical characteristics of the
Interaction: how the controls are designed, the physical environment in which the interaction
takes place, and the layout and physical qualities of the screen
Ergonomics (or human factors)
the size of the image in the retina. Visual angle is affected by both the
size of the object and its distance from the eye.
Visual Angle
is the ability of a person to perceive fine detail
Visual acuity
it indicates that our perception of size
relies on factors other than the visual angle.
Law of size constancy
if we expect an object to be of a certain size then we
can judge its distance accordingly.
Cue of Familiarity
is in fact a subjective reaction to levels of light.
Brightness
It is affected by brightness, which is the amount of light emitted by an object.
Luminance
It is related to luminance: it is a function of the luminance of an
object and the luminance of its background.
Contrast
