Define HAZMAT
Any items or agents that have the potential to cause harm to humans, or the enviroment either by itself or interaction with other factors. PN796 1.1
HAZMAT. What are the LFB’s reposnibilities?
Control spills and mitigate harm to public and enviroment.
Is the LFB responsible for disposal of HAZMAT.
No. Any controlled or non-emergency situation is the responsibility of owners / occupiers of premisis.

Death, acute or chronic injury and disease.
Via
Inhalation, ingestion, chamical or heat burn, absorbtion, injection.
When gathering info what must personnel consider?
Size - premises and amount of HAZMAT Onsite info (specialists, signage etc)
HAZMAT. En-route considerations (non fire).
Wind direction
Gradient
Nature of HAZMAT
(approach upwind and uphill)
HAZMAT FIRE. Additional en-route considerations
Smoke plume direction and potential ‘grounding’
GTS may not be suitable
HAZMAT. On arrival consider.

Cordon (other incidents may need more explosives etc)
