Hazmat Flashcards
704’s (Blue, Red, Yellow, White)
Health, flammability, reactivity or special risks associated with hazardous materials.
Health Hazard
Blue:
0-none
1-mild irritation
2- residual if prolonged exposure
3- temp or moderate injury with short exposure
4- serious injury or death with limited exposure.
Flammability Hazard
0- wont burn
1- will burn when headed significantly above flash pt 200
2- exposed to relatively high temps
3- ignite under ambient temps, flash point below 75
4- readily burns, Flash point below 73, most dangerous (propane)
Instability
Yellow
0- stable, no reaction
1- stable under most conditons
2- can undergo violent chemical change when eposed to high temps and pressure.
3- high instability
4- react or detonate at normal temps
Special Precautions
W= strong reaction to water (K, Mg, Cesium)
OX= violent reaction if exposed to Oxygen (ammonium, nitrate, peroxides)
SA- Simple asphyxiants (gases reduce or displace oxygen: neon, argon, nitrogen, helium)
