Adaption
Attempts by communities to live with hazardous events by adjusting their living conditions to reduce their vulnerability
Community preparedness
prearranged measures aiming to reduce loss of life or property damage e.g. community awareness
Integrated risk management
considering the social, economic and environmental impact of the hazard
Distribution
the spacial coverage of the hazard over time
Frequency
The distribution of a hazard throughout time
Magnitude
the assessment of the size of the impact of the natural hazard
Primary effects
the effects of a hazardous event that occur directly from the event
Secondary effects
the effects of the primary impact of a hazard event
Resilience
The sustained ability of communities to respond to and overcome the effects of a hazard
Park Model (disaster response curve)
model showing that hazards having varying impact. the curve shows the normal, the distruption and the recovery.
