A
a potential danger or risk whether from natural or human process which could cause loss of life, injury or socio-economic disruption.
a hazard event is a hazard that has occurred.

what are three factors that must combine to create a disaster
A
- an event must that is potent enough to severely damage and endanger lives
-affected at least 100 people (2000 for drought and famine)
-the vulnerability of an area and its population
severely impacts whether a hazard event will cause a disaster or not. if an area has been designed around resisting a hazard, it is more likely to reduce the risks of a disaster occurring.

A
countries with less economic development are more likely to experience hazards and disasters as they do not have the means to prepare for them and they are not in a financial position to move
