‘Allotment of death’
There is a sense of control and that the hawk is playing God throughout the poem

‘Top’ shows he is at the top of the food chain and had full control

The descriptive verb ‘closed’ portray he doesn’t even need to monitor the world, such is his immense control and his awareness he is at the top. No one can challenge him
‘Falsifying dream’
Reality is better than dreaming for him. He doesn’t need to lie.
Semantic filed of death and violence
‘Or in sleep rehearse perfect kills and eat’, ‘I kill’, ‘tearing odd heads’
‘Locked’
Further excentrantes his power, with the verb linking him to a dictator and locking others freedom
‘I hold Creation in my foot’
Repetition of ‘Creation’ and the capitalisation of it emphasises his arrogance and God delusions
‘It is all mine’
Conveys his power obsession and selfishness
‘Bones of the living’
Contrast between ‘bones’ and ‘living’ reminds the reader he has the power to take life away.
‘Permitted’
Enforces the idea that he ‘permits’ everything to happen
