Starr tells us that there are two Starr Carters. What does she mean by this. Why does there need to be two Starrs?
- Means that she needs two versions of herself when she’s around her close friends and her boyfriend in Willamson and when she is around some friends and her family in Garden Heights
- Willamson Starr- diluted version of herself because she goes to a white school and can’t be her regular self without being judged/ racialized
- Willamson Starr doesn’t use any slang (unlike home), holds her tongue so she won’t be considered an angry black girl, and is approachable and non confrontational so she wouldn’t be called hpod.
