defence was a reason for federation because people wanted their own military just in case another country attacks.

national pride was a reason for federation because many people that lived in Australia didn’t actually live in Britain, so they wanted Australia to be independent.
WHY WAS WOMAN SUFFRAGES FOR FEDERATION?
Women suffrage was a reason for federation because they thought that if they went for federation they could get the rights for woman. These rights included education, voting rights and more.
WHY WAS FREE TRADE A REASON FOR FEDERATION?
People wanted to trade more freely but tariffs didn’t let anyone trade very easily so if federation happened it would be easier to and there will be less tariffs.
WHY WAS IMMIGRATION A REASON FOR FEDERATION?
Immigration was a reason for federation because many people from other countries wanted to come to Australia to live in but before federation it was very hard to move to Australia.
