Q

Describe the modified bass technique.

A

Methodical approach
The toothbrush should be used at approximately a 45 degree angle to the tooth surface pointing towards the gum, half of the brush on the tooth and half on the gum.
Then use small back and forth strokes on no more than 2 teeth at a time

A

Probing depth >5.5mm

18
Q

What does currently stable mean in periodontal health?

A

BoP<10%
Pocket probing depth less than or equal to 4mm
No BoP at 4mm sites

19
Q

What does currently in remission mean in periodontal health?

A

BoP >10%
Pocket probing depth less than or equal to 4mm
No BoP at 4mm sites

20
Q

What does currently unstable mean in periodontal health?

A

Pocket probing depth more than or equal to 5mm
Or pocket probing depth more than or equal to 4mm but with BoP

21
Q

What are 6 Ramfjord’s teeth?

A

16, 21, 24, 36, 41, 44

22
Q

What type of bleeding does modified bleeding score measure?

A

MARGINAL BLEEDING rather than bleeding on probing from the base of the pocket

23
Q

What does marginal bleeding reflect on?

A

How well the patient is able to carry out effective plaque control daily

24
Q

What does bleeding from the base of the pocket indicate?

A

Disease activity and periodontal breakdown
