Swan Neck
Flexed DIP joint and Hyperextended PIP joint
Boutonniere Deformity
Extension of the metacarpophalangeal and DIP joints and flexion of the PIP joint

Claw fingers
Fingers are hyperextended at the metacarpophalangeal joints and flexed at the interphalangeal joints
Trigger fingers
a result of thickening of the flexor tendon sheath, which causes sticking of the tendon when the pt . attempts to flex the finger
Ape Hand Deformity
A deformity in an ability to oppose (abduct) the thumb. Caused by damage to the proximal median nerve and subsequent loss of opponens pollicus muscle function
Drop Wrist Syndrome
Compression on the radial nerve inhibiting forearm extensor muscles
Dupuytren Contracture
Contracture of the palmar fascia
Mallet Finger
Rupture or avulsion of the extensor tendon. The distal phalanx rests in a flexed position
Volkmann’s Contracture
a deformity of the hand, fingers, and wrist caused by injury to the muscles of the forearm
