A
Soft tissue swelling of the terminal phalanx
Loss of normal angle between nail and nail bed

Schamroth window test (normal = diamond)

Congenital cyanotic heart disease

A
‘Flapping tremor’
Irregular myoclonic jerking motions, commonly seen in the hands. (Hold hands out flexed directly up).
Sign of:
CO2 retention (COPD).
Uraemia.
Hepatic encephalopathy.

Indented spoon shaped nails.
> Fe deficiency anaemia.
Poor peripheral circulation.
Rheumatic fever.

A
Whitening under the nail bed.
> Nail bed trauma.
Chemotherapy.

A
> Chronic liver disease.
> Pregnancy.
> Hyperthyroidism.
