Hamlet (s)
The prince of Denmark, the son of Gertrude and Hamlet (f).
Claudius
The king of Denmark, who is married to Gertrude, Hamlet’s (s) uncle.
Gertrude
The queen of Denmark, Hamlet’s (s) mother, the widow of Hamlet (f) and now married to Claudius.
Polonius
The lord chamberlain of Claudius’s court, the father of Laertes and Ophelia.
Horatio
A close friend of Hamlet (s), who is also a scholar.
Ophelia
Polonius’s daughter, Laertes’s sister and the former lover of Hamlet.
Laertes
Polonius’s son, and Opehlia’s brother.
Fortinbras (s)
The prince of Norway, who’s father Fortinbras (f) was killed by Hamlet (f).
The Ghost
The ghost of Hamlet (f), who was murdered by Claudius for his crown.
Rosencrantz and Guildenstern
Two courtiers who were former friends of Hamlet (s), and they were sent for by Gertrude and Claudius to discover the root of Hamlet’s (s) madness.
Osric
The courtier who summons Hamlet to his duel with Laertes.
Voltimand and Cornelius
Two courtiers who were sent to Norway by Claudius to prevent the attack from Fortinbras (s).
Marcellus and Bernado
The officers who first see the ghost in Elsinore. Marcellus is there when Hamlet (s) first sees the ghost.
Francisco
A soldier and guard at Elsinore.
Reynaldo
Polonius’s servant, who is sent to France to check up on and spy on Laertes.
