time passed since 1 - Polonius sends Raynard to spy on Laertes - Ophelia saya that Hamlet has entered her chamber half-naked and crazed - Polonius says he will tell the King; he believes Hamlet has gone mad because of the breakup of his relationship with Ophelia

Claudius and Gertrude ask Rosencrantz and Guildenstern to spy on Hamlet - an ambassador arrives with news that Fortinbras will not invade Denmark - Polonius tells the king and queen that Hamlet’s madness is caused by his love for Ophelia and they plan to watch Ophelia and Hamlet talk
Scene 2 - 2
Hamlet arrives and makes crude comments about Polonius and Ophelia - Hamlet asks Rosencrantz and Guildenstern if they are spying on him which they unconvincingly deny - a group of actors arrive and perform a speech - Hamlet asks them to perform a scene later
What is Hamlet’s plan?
To have the actors perform a scene where the actors act out Claudius’ murder of King Hamlet and watch his reaction
