Delusions
False, fixed idea (police is out to kill you)
Paranoid delusion
False, fixed idea that thinks you are far superior (you think you are Christ or khakis khan, or you think you are the world’s smartest person)
Grandiose delusion
False, fixed idea about your body (you have x-ray vision, there are worms inside my arm, my body is hollow)
Somatic delusion
A false, fixed sensory experience
Hallucinations
There is nothing there
Hear voices inside your head to harm yourself
Auditory hallucination
Seeing things that are not there
Visual hallucinations
Feeling things that are not there
Tactile hallucinations
Tasting things that are not there
Gustatory hallucinations
Smelling things that are not real
Olfactory hallucinations
Misinterpretation of reality, sensory experience
Illusion
There is a referent to reality. There’s actually something there but they misinterpreted it.
They can function in everyday life (schizophrenia, Chico-effective disorder, major depression, manic) they can learn reality
Functional psychotic
Not know reality and have no insight (due to brain damage:senile and dementia)
Psychosis of dementia
Temporary, sudden, dramatic secondary lost of reality due to some chemical imbalance in the body
Psychotic delirium
