As proper doctors were either killed or injured and equipment was destroyed they were treated badly
Did people have food to eat
No there was an acute food shortage so survivors had hunger. Also water was in a shortage as the water system that supplied 40% of the population was destroyed.
What did they do with the bodies
Mass graves of 7,000 were commissioned. The remaining bodies were made into roadblocks protesting against the long time it took for aid to arrive.
Were people helpful
No, as the police force capitulated to the earthquake violent looting and violence broke out.
What was the death rate and what caused it to be so high
High this was due to a number of factors: 72.1% of the population lived on less then $2 a day; the people lived in packed shanty towns in poorly constructd buildings; builders didn’t follow safety instructions and were given bribes to take short cuts; the quake hit close to said areas. Almost every house in the country well down.
What happened to the capital
the infrastructure of Port Au Prince was completely ruined. Roads were impassable and the county’s tiny airport was full of aid planes while to port was full of rubbish.
