- Due to so many deaths, hospitals and morges were full so bodies were piled up on the street. This lead to increased spread of disease
- Looting and sexual violence increased
- Airports and roads destroyed so difficulty getting aid

- 800,000 placed in emergancy aid camps
- Water purification tablets and bottled water provided

- Over 1 million people continued to live in temporary shelters after 1 year of the earthquake
- 70% of population were jobless so given support
