Q

What does BPG do to Hb?

A

Stabilises it. No more O2 binds. Promotes dissociation

Q

What is MetHb?

A

When Fe2+ is oxidised to Fe3+ and so O2 can’t bind

15
Q

What is Myoglobin?

A

Type of Hb found in striated muscle. It has a higher affinity to O2 than HbA

16
Q

What is Caissons disease?

A

Decompression sickness. Rapid ascent from depth causes N2 solubility to decrease rapidly. N2 gets into blood and joints can lead to death and debilitating problems with joints.
