A
- Variation in size of blood cells. MDS.
- Central pigmented area, surrounded by pale area. Bull’s eye target. IDA and post-splenectomy.
- Blobs seen inside RBCs caused by denatured globin. G6PD and alpha-thalassaemia
- Blobs of DNA inside RBCS. Post-splenectomy, severe anaemia
- Immature RBCs. Haemolytic anaemia
- Fragments of RBCs. HUS, DIC, TTP, haemolytic anaemia
- Immature RBCs that contain blobs of iron. MDS
- Ruptured WBCs. CLL
- Spherical blood cells. Autoimmune haemolytic anaemia or hereditary spherocytosis.

Anaemia
- Causes of microcytic anaemia
- Causes of normocytic anaemia
- Causes of macrocytic anaemia
A
- Thalassaemia, anaemic of chronic disease, IDA, lead poisoning, sideroblastic anaemia
- Anaemia of chronic disease, acute blood loss, aplastic anaemia, haemolytic anaemia, hypothyroidism
- B12, folate deficiency, alcohol, liver disease, hypothyroidism, reticulocytosis
