the place or type of place where a plant or animal naturally or normally live or grows

Describe a arctic habitat
Very cold, very few trees, short grasses and bushes.

A good amount of rain or snow and many trees grow here.

Get a lot of rain, lots of tall trees that form a canopy. Located near the equator

Hot, dry, few plants and animals. Many nocturnal animals.

Waxy coating to keep in water

Sends blood to it’s ears to cool off in the summer

Store fat away from it’s body in the sumner to stay cool
How does an arctic foxes fur help it adapt to its environment
It’s white and thick in the winter. The fox sheds and fur turns brown in the summer.

Describe a forest habitat
Thick growth of trees and bushes that cover a large area
Describe what happens in the tropical rainy season
A period of time with lots of rainfall, rivers may overflow, lots of bugs, warm and humid, animals may move to drier areas.
Describe what happens in the tropical dry season
A period of time with low rainfall. Trees use up their saved water, grasses dry up and animal may migrate to different areas
Describe a rain forest
Tropical forest that receives a lot of rain and has very tall trees
What are the layers of the rainforest
Canopy - thick leary tops of trees, most animals live here (monkey, sloths, and birds)
Understory - layer between canopy and floor, less sunlight plants with large leaves (insects, snakes, jaguars)
Forest floor - less sunlight, fewer plans (lizards, insects, fungi)
