Q

Pediatric considerations

A

CFA
Tamper proof battery doors
Peds ear hooks
LED indicator lights
DSL - more output
Higher SNR
wider BW esp for HFS
= This gives the child the best chance of acquiring speech and language

A

⁃ Avoid distortion
⁃ Flexibility
⁃ Speech audibility

A
  1. Motivation
    1. Age
    2. Dexterity
    3. Attitude
    4. Expectations
22
Q

Eyes open

A

ears ON at least 10 hours a day

23
Q

Compared to adults.. what should be taken into consideration to pediatric fittings?

A
  1. ECs are acoustically different
  2. Parents or caregivers will be responsible for maintenance, care, follow up, monitoring
24
Q

What is the RSME?

A

Root mean square error, this is the difference between output of hearing aid and average target output at 5.1,2 & 4. The smaller the RSME, the closer the target. Peds need to be <3 dB. Generally for adults is 5.
