H And T Flashcards
Hypoxia
Slow rate, cyanosis, airway problems, blood gasses, give oxygen/ventilation/ advance airway
Hypovolemia
Rapid heart rate, folate neck veins, give volume infusions
Hydrogen ion
Smaller amplitude QRS complexes, history of diabetes/renal failure/bicarbonate-responsive pre existing acidosis, give ventilation sodium bicarbonate
Hyper kalmia
High potassium, QRS widen, tall T waves, small P waves, history of renal failure/recent dialysis/diabetes/medications, give calcium chloride, sodium bicarbonate, glucose plus insulin, possibly albuterol
Hypokalemia
Low potassium, T waves flat, prominent U waves, wide complex tachy, abnormal loss of potassium, give magnesium if cardiac arrest
Hypothermia
J or Osborne waves, history of exposure to cold, rewarm according to protocol
Tension pneumothorax
Narrow complex, slow heart rate, no pulse felt with CPR, unequal breath sounds, difficult to ventilate patient, give needle decompression, tube thoracostomy
Tamponade, cardiac
Narrow complex, rapid rate, no pulse felt with CPR, vein distention, give pericardiocentesis
Toxins
Various effects of ECG, predominately prolongation of QT interval, bradycardia, pupils, neurological exam, give intubation, specific antidotes and agents per toxidrome
Thrombosis, lung
Narrow complex, rapid rate, no pulse felt with CPR, distended neck veins, give fibrinolytic therapy, surgical embolectomy
Thrombosis, heart
Abnormal 12-lead ECG, history of cardiac markers, good pulse with CPR
