Yolanda - Push right lever away from me to wash and clean
Gitana - twist and hold the end of the windscreen wiper stick for 2 seconds

Yolanda - Pull towards me

Yolanda - Dial on the right
Gitana - Twist the knob on the end of indicator
Show me: How would you set the rear de-mister
Yolanda - Push button with 3 squiggles inside the square (On and then off)
Show me: How do you operate the horn
Check for no pedestrians
Push centre of steering wheel
Show Me: how would you de-mist the front windscreen
Set the dial/button to the shell shape with squiggles and turn the temperature/fan up
Show me: How would you open and close the side window
Check mirrors
Press button to get the window down, then pull to bring it back up
Tell me: How would you check the brakes are working before starting a journey
- press the brake pedal, it should not feel spongy or slack
- Car shouldnt pull to one side
Tell me: Where would you find the cars recommended tyre pressures and how would you check each tyre
- Check the car manual
- Grab a reliable pressure gauge
- Making sure the tyres are cold, remove cap and test with gauge, adjusting where necessary
- Replace cap and check spare
Tell me: How would you make sure your head restraint is set properly and provides the best protection
- adjust so the rigid part is at least as high as your eyes or the top of your ears
- make sure its close to the back of your head and comfortable
Tell me: How would you check your tyres have sufficient tread depth and are in a safe condition
- check for any cuts or bulges
- must have at least 1.6mm of tread depth across the middle 3 quarters of the tyre and the entire outer circumference
Tell me: How would you check the headlights and taillights are working
- Turn on light switch (and potentially the ignition)
- Walk around the car and check they are working
Tell me: How would you know if there was a problem with your Anti Lock Braking System (ABS)
- Turn on the car and see if the ABS warning light comes on
- If it stays on, there is an issue
Tell me: how would you check the indicators are working
- Turn on hazard warning lights
- Walk around the car to check the indicators are working
Tell me: How would you check the brake lights are working
- Turn the car on
- press the brake pedal
- Ask someone to check if the lights come on
- Potentially use reflections in windows and doors
Tell me: How do you check if the power steering is working before a journey
- Turn ignition on
- Turn the steering wheel (it should move with ease)
- (Could also turn the wheel just after moving off to see if it works)
Tell me: How would you switch on the rear fog lights and explain when to use them
- Turn on the Engine
Gitana - Twist the middle of the indicator twice and check the fog light symbol appears on the dash
Yolanda - Turn on the dipped lights and then pull out the fog light. Check for warning light
- You would use them when visibility is seriously restricted (cant see less than 100M)
Tell me: How would you switch from dipped to main beam and how would you know it was on
- Turn on engine
Yolanda - With dipped lights on, push indicator away from me.
- Warning light would be on.
Tell me: Open the bonnet and tell how you’d check the engine has sufficient oil
- Remove the dipstick and wipe it clean with a cloth
- Put it back in the holder
- Take the stick back out
- Check the level is between the high and low mark
If too low - Top it up but dont overfill as you could damage the engine
Tell me: Open the bonnet and tell me how you would check the engine has sufficient coolant
- Check the the coolant level by looking at the high and low level marks on the radiator header tank
If low, top it up with water and anti-freeze mix BUT ONLY WHEN ENGINE IS COLD to avoid serious injury
Tell me: Open the bonnet and tell me how you’d check that you have a safe level of hydraulic brake fluid
- Must be between the high and low marks
if low, top it up with the correct type of fluid (which can be located in the manual)
