How might an ovarian cyst present?
Unilateral dull chronic pelvic pain, which may be intermittent or only during intercourse
Torsion or rupture may lead to severe abdominal pain
large cysts may cause abdominal swelling or pressure effects on the bladder
A 24-year-old woman presents to A&E with 1 day history of nausea and severe constant pain localised since onset to left iliac fossa. She has vomited once but has no other symptoms. She has a regular cycle, her LMP started 7 days ago. Sexually active, always uses condoms. No vaginal bleeding. What is the most likely diagnosis? What is an important differential?
- Ovarian torsion
- ectopic pregnancy
What is the next step in management for a women with HPV +ve result in smear?
Colposcopy referral within 8 weeks
