In Spanish, the thing (such as apples) is the subject of gustar.
Create the sentence:
I like apples.
Las manzanas me gustan.
Me gustan las manzanas.
(we use gustan instead of gusta because the apples are plural)
As a rule, we use the third-person singular or plural (g__/g__) to agree with the thing or things that are pleasing.
ex:
- Do you like rice?
- Do you like potatoes?
gusta/gustan
Te gusta el arroz?
Te gustan las papas?
Use the singular g__ with one or more infinitives (basic verb forms).
ex:
-Do you like to eat dinner and go to bed early?
