What would show on urethral swab in Gonorrhoea
Gram -ve diplococcic
What would show on urethral swab in Chlamydia
Non-specific urethritis
Chlamydia incubation period
7-21 days, large percentage are asymptomatic
Sx if female symptomatic with chlamydia
Cervicitis (discharge, bleeding), dysuria
Sx if male symptomatic with chlamydia
Urethral discharge, dysuria
Investigation of choice in chlamydia
NAATs - urine, vulvovaginal swab or cervical swab
Rx of chlamydia
Doxy (7/7) or azithromycin (single dose) - latter is 1st line due to compliance
1st azithro if pregnant
Partner contact for chlamydia
Symptomatic men - all contacts since and 4 weeks before onset of sx
Women & asymptomatic men - all from last 6 months or if >6m then last partner
