Vigilant
- A vigilant situation is likely to change suddenly and without warning
- Someone who is volatile can suddenly become angry or violent
Tenuous
A situation or relationship that is tenuous is uncertain, weak or likely to change.
Rendezvous
- An arrangement to meet someone at a particular time and place, usually secretly
Ex: He made a rendezvous with her in Leicester Square. - A place where two or more people have arranged to meet
Ex: They were waiting at the assigned rendezvous point.
Vigilant
Giving careful attention to what is happening, so that you will notice any danger or illegal activity
Ex: Please remain vigilant at all times and report anything suspicious.
Venerate
To honour or respect someone or something because they are old, holy, or connected with the past.
Ex: The religious sect continues to venerate its founder despite well-documented claims that he was a serial sexual predator.
Coerce
To force someone to do something they do not want to do by threatening them
Preside over
To be in a position of authority when at a time when important things are happening
Ex: He presided over a sexually licentious culture that influenced others in the sect.
Testify
To make a formal statement of what is true, especially in the court of law
Ex: He encouraged a victim not to testify to the police if questioned.
