Growing up in the USA Flashcards
A brief autobiography of the American school experience
I grew up in a small village just 2 hours northwest of New York City.
I started in kindergarten class when I was 5 years old, and I went to school 5 days a week.
Normally we arrived at 8 o’clock and ended the day around noon. 14:30.
There were approx. 1000 children both boys and girls at our school, with approx. 25 children in each class.
I liked going to school because I loved learning, but I also like to meet with my friends and talk to sweet girls.
The two classes I liked best were science and music, but I never liked math.
At that time, the teachers had to beat the children with a paddle in the bare butt if you didn’t behave properly.
Fortunately, it never happened to me, and it was eventually banned some years later.
It was free to go to school up to 12th grade and that is still the case today.
We did not have special school uniforms, but I think it would have helped with bullying if we all wore the same clothes.
