-A rare but serious genetic disorder in babies
-Majority of people with this syndrome die within the fetal stage.
-Also known as trisomy 18
-Characterized by a wide range of abnormalities involving the brain, heart, kidneys, stomach, and craniofacial structures.
-Occurs in about one in every five thousand live births.
-Women who are older than age 30 are at a greater risk of bearing a child with the syndrome.
