Coercive, Referent and expert power
Coercive: the ability to influence someone by taking something away from them or punishing them
Referent: Leaders influence on individuals due to loyalty or affection
Expert: Following someone based on their knowledge on a topic
Legitimate, Informational and reward power
Legitimate: Power you derive from a formal position
Informational: Having information others desire
Reward: Having power to give something to others
Types of leaderships
Democratic: public have a say on matters as well as gov
Authoritarian : Leader holds all authority
Laissez-faire: All power is given to public

It told us that given the chance of a high or low authoritative position, people will change their behaviour. guards- became violent inmates- became submissive
Ethics: right to withdraw, no lasting harm

Teacher and experimenter in same room, student in another. teacher thinks student is doing a test and every incorrect answer teacher must shock student, however it is a test to see if the teacher will give high levels of shock to someone because they were told to.
