Group 7 Flashcards
What are the physical properties of group 7
Non metals
Brittle and crumbly when solid
Poisonous and smelly
Group 7 are never diatomic molecules
True or false
False
Why is fluorine the most reactive in group 7
It is the most reactive because elements are reactive if they can gain or lose electrons easily. Fluorine is the most reactive because it only has 2 shells and is much easier for the nucleus to pull in an electron compared to iodine which has more shells and electrons.
What happens in a displacement reaction
A halogen that is more reactive than another in a reaction so it displaced it.
What happens when a halogen reacts with a metal (group 7)
You get a metal halide eg sodium bromide
