Q

What is the difference between covalent and ionic bonds?

A

Covalent are formed when two atoms share electrons, while ionic compound is when an electron is given to another element

Q

Why don’t alkali metals form covalent bonds?

A

They loose their one outer electron so easily that sharing it would be out of the question

Q

As you go down the group one elements, they get less reactive. Why is this?

A

The further down, the more shells they have, this means the electrons are further away from the nucleus so it’s less strongly attracted
